Deserving Family needs much Needed Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if this will do any good for my family or not. We are losing everthing we have worked so hard for for the past 30 years, and I am so scared knowing how hard it is to start over and even more scared bacause I am getting a lot older. If I were healty and 15 to 20 years younger, it would not be bothering me so very much.
We are behind on our home payments, all our bills and my medical has used up every penny we had saved. Now we are facing mass medical bills while trying to raise our 11 year old grandson. I am looking for someone out there who really cares and might be able to help my family out a bit. The only car we have is a 1998 plymoth van that is running only by the grace of God. I am unable to get insurance or other out side help.
Please, if there is someone out there that can afford to help a well deserving family finacialy or otherwise, it would be so much more than just appriciated.
So many needs unmet... scared a not sure which way to go!

There is an alternative for responsible, working parents to receive low-interest auto loans.

Ways to Work is a national program of Alliance for Children and Families that allows qualified working parents who are unable to get funds elsewhere, to receive loans up to $6,000 to purchase, repair or refinance a car.

The first program of its kind in Oregon, Ways to Work is operated locally by Metropolitan Family Service.

Loan Eligibility
To be eligible for loan consideration, a potential borrower must:

  • Be employed three months continuously
  • Be an involved parent
  • Have exhausted other loan sources
  • Have a household income less than 80% of the Portland median income (80% for a family of 4 is $54,300)
  • Reside in Multnomah, Clackamas, or Washington County

Borrowers agree to repay the loan at an 8% interest rate within two years. The money is then made available to other applicants.

For questions about the program, or to apply, call 503.232.0007, ext. 207

For more information contact our Ways to Work Coordinator at 503.232.0007, ext. 303.

John is a single father of a young daughter. Right after John was laid off from his job, his daughter was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. John was having major difficulty finding a way to get his daughter to her doctor’s appointments and to childcare. Expenses caused John to miss credit card payments.

John realized he needed to make changes to get his life back on track. He found a new job and applied for a Ways to Work auto loan so he could purchase a car. By receiving a loan through this program, John was able to advance his career by spending more hours at work and still get his daughter to her appointments.

His daughter is now getting treatment and feeling much better. John is now on a better path towards rebuilding his life and able to care for his family.

Ways to Work has helped John and many other low-income households improve their lives.

Wilm's deformed foot

The weekend is here. I live in Syracuse, NY and 9 out of 10 days it is ugly outside. Cloudy, gloomy or rain. But for me, living upstairs - with no car to go anywheres - haven't been outside for fresh air since last thursday for a trip to the doctors. Having trouble getting around. I don't know if I have ever brought up the problem of my foot that has been rapidly been on a path of being deformed. The bone has slowly been twisting towards the floor. If you see it, it looks like I walk on the side of my ankle. And if you WALKED on it, it feels like stepping on a bottle cap (with the rough edges on the skin). To top it off, I am very overweight. I can't stand long, I can't walk far, and haven't done any shopping in a couple of years. No grocery shopping, no fairs, no christmas shopping . . only on line. Some think I should just get a wheelchair and get on with it, but I am afraid if I get in one, I may never get out. I live with the pain. I take celebrex. I need my own transportation to get out of my house. The longer I am in here, the more depressed I get. I miss my job so much. I feel free when I am on the road. I may not be able to walk, but my world is so much BIGGER.

Full time college student, unemployed with no vehicle - trying to locate grant/free $ for vehicle purchase

I'm a single, 55 year old women who is attending college full time.  I have received a pell grant to cover the cost of my schooling.  However, due to down sizing, I have lost my job.  To top it off, my vehicle is no longer in working order and it will cost more to repair it than the car is worth.  I have dependant on my daughter for transportation to and from school, along with work prior to being let go.  I need to see about finding a grant of some sort that will assist me in the purchase of a car.  I don't even know if there is anything like that available.  Any help that can be provided to pointing me in the right direction would be very greatful!!!  Thank you in advance for any assistance!!!!!!

Kryssy

About Kryssy

I'm a 24 year old newly single mom who just fleed from a domestic violent relationship that I just couldn't take anymore. It was more verbal than physical, but I am really broken because of it. I have to be strong for the baby, but I am hurting bad. I was a stay at home mom so I have absolutely nothing to help me get on my feet. And he knows this. I came back to Florida because it, but I am sleeping on a tile floor with a couple pillows and a blanket at my moms project home. I'm not suppose to be here because she is on a government housing program. So, I could be on the streets at any given moment. On top of that she is a major drug addict and I really don't wana be here. I'm getting assistance with food so that's a blessing. I'm trying real hard to get on my feet so this could turn out to be a success story. I went to school for dental assisting so hopefully I find a good job with that soon. I'll be praying for me and my baby if no one else does.

HAND UP not HAND OUT

I believe in a hand up and not a hand out. Please help me achieve my dream of helping other women overcome lifes obstacles.

I am a single mother of two girls.  I am currently in what feels like a no win situation and after countless hours scouring the net for help, I’ve come to the conclusion that there just isn’t anything out there for a woman in my situation. I am 29 and a survivor of domestic violence and addiction. While the last few years have been life altering, I’ve hit a roadblock and it seems like there is no way out. I have taken baby steps since getting sober 3 years ago which has led to some very wonderful accomplishments like going back to school 3 nights a week and receiving my GED, getting my driver’s license back, quitting smoking, earning the trust back from my family and friends who’s bridges I had burned (still working on the parents;), and last but certainly not least giving my children the life they deserve and the mother I knew I could be. All this has taken a lot of patience. I wasn’t someone who was lucky enough to have family support. The day my father dropped me off at rehab he looked at me in the eyes and said “Only a failure goes to rehab. If you really wanted to change you would just stop doing drugs!” I still went and unfortunately had to go home to an unsupportive family. My father and mother took my girls and me in when I was 22 after a terribly abusive relationship that finally ended with me lying in a hospital bed with broken ribs, jaw, and concussion. I’m surprised it didn’t kill me honestly, but we won’t get into that because I’m sure you already have an idea of what I went through. I am grateful to my parents for taking me in and being there for my girls. I don’t have any idea what I would have done had they not been there for them. The reason I say them is because they have made it clear that is the only reason they have done anything. I just wish there was something I could do to show them how much Ive changed. Every time I make what seems to be a huge step in the right direction they remind me of my age and how other women my age have accomplished so much more.

Here is my current problem. I am STUCK and it seems as though there is no way out. After the research I have done online I’ve come to the realization that my parents are showing signs of narcissism that has recently gotten so bad that my father became physical by pushing me down in front of my daughter. I had flashbacks of my earlier abusive relationship and quickly realized I have to get out of this. I feel as though my every move is controlled. I have no car and no job which is a real downer on my self esteem. Honestly, I feel like I’m totally alone. My parents not only resent me but I’m pretty sure they have lost all love they had for me. That is if they ever loved me at all. It’s always been a hostile home to say the least.
I’m not on a bus line due to living in the country so there is no way for me to get to school or work. When I mention ways to better my life my parents tell me I’m being selfish and that single mothers like me made our beds and now we should have to lie in them. I cry daily and dream of a life being able to choose what I want to do or go where I want to go. With all this free time on my hands and a broken leg that resulted in surgery from a fall 2 months ago I’ve had plenty of time to Google in search for a hand up and not a hand out for women like me. This has turned up little possibilities. I would love to find a foundation or organization that would help me become independent and on the right road toward success while I in turn offer my time to help with whatever they may need volunteers to do. Id love to help women who are going through what I went through. I could help them overcome the fear and anxiety associate with addiction. I could also show women that they don’t deserve to be abused and it is possible to break the cycle. This doesn’t seem like such a farfetched idea to me and it would give women a sense of accomplishment if they learned to volunteer and not just receive a handout. Thanks for reading and I look forward to ideas.

lost my car

As if my luck couldn't get worse,

the transmission broke in my car and the man who came to tow it tricked me into giving him the title. He told me it was going to the dump because the homeowners association where I was staying would charge me an arm and a leg to leave it until I could fix it. He sold the motor for almost 3K and kept all the money. Now I have no car, no money, no job and I have to leave the people I'm staying with.
